A 37-year-old homicide defendant rejected a life plea on Aug. 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Davone McDaniels, represented by Donald Wright, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident of Jan. 22.
The prosecutor presented a life plea for first-degree murder; and 20 years without the possibility of being eligible for parole after the first five years for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime.
McDaniels was represented by defense attorney Donald Wright.
According to a news release, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 2300 block of West Lanvale Street at around 10:25 p.m. on Jan. 15, where they found the victim, later identified as Tarone Thompson, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Medics pronounced Thompson dead at the scene.
McDaniels’ trial is scheduled for March 7, 2023, exactly one year after McDaniels turned himself in to authorities.
