A 34-year-old murder defendant received a life sentence plus 20 years before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John A. Howard.
Preston Feaster was found guilty of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a handgun on his person, two counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm and possession of a rifle or shotgun with a mental disability for the June 2, 2022, murder of 29-year-old Andrew Smith on the 4200 block of Saint Georges Road.
Prosecutors stated Feaster planned for the murder–surveillance footage showed Feaster waiting at the scene before Smith returned home from work.
Feaster had multiple prior convictions related to firearms offenses and violated his probation by committing this crime.
During the sentencing, Smith’s family spoke about the impact of their loss, particularly on Smith’s young son, who will grow up without knowing his father.
Feaster’s attorney, Brandon Mead, said Feaster had a tough time growing up due to the early loss of his mother and an absent father. Later in his life, Feaster also suffered from heroin addiction.
Judge Howard sentenced Feaster to life in prison plus 20 consecutive years with the first five years without the possibility of parole.
