The trial of an 18-year-old co-defendant charged in connection with a teen’s murder last year was postponed in Baltimore City Circuit Court by Judge Charles H. Dorsey III on July 29.

Paul Ray IV, 18, faces charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, first-degree assault, possession of a firearm as a minor, reckless endangerment from a car, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle and conspiracy to have a loaded handgun in vehicle in connection to an incident on the 900 block of North Broadway that killed 16-year-old Bryson Hudson and injured an adult on Aug. 14, 2023.

Ray’s attorney, Lawrence Rosenberg, requested the postponement, citing the need for additional time to review newly discovered evidence. The prosecution did not object to the defense’s request.

In reception court, Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a five-day trial for Ray, which is set to begin on Oct. 9, before Judge Alan C. Lazerow.

Ray’s co-defendant, 29-year-old Christopher McLean, was found not guilty of first-degree murder, but a jury could not reach a verdict for the rest of the charges against him for Hudson’s murder.

McLean’s trial was declared a mistrial for the remaining charges.
