A 31-year-old homicide defendant’s trial was scheduled for February.
Marcus Harris is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident on March 25.
On Oct. 3, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn, Harris and his defense attorney, Brian McDaniel, rejected a plea of life for first-degree murder and 10 years with the first five years without parole for use of a firearm during a felony violent crime. The charges are set to run concurrently.
According to a news release, officers were called to the 3800 block of W. Belvedere Avenue at 11:37 a.m. for shots being fired. They found 34-year-old Courtney Campbell suffering from a gunshot to the chest.
The medics took the victim to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Harris’ trial is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2023. It is expected to last five days.
