An Owings Mills woman’s sentencing for conspiring to shoot her friend was postponed on Oct. 11 in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Markia Vaughn, 20, was scheduled for sentencing alongside her defense attorney, Koryn High, before Judge Levi S. Zaslow, but was postponed due to counsel’s schedules. A new sentencing date has not yet been set, according to the Maryland Judiciary website.
This marks the defendant’s third postponed sentencing in six months after having accepted the prosecution’s guilty plea for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in December 2023 in connection to the shooting on Feb. 10, 2022.
During the December hearing, the prosecution said Vaughn would only be sentenced for conspiracy to commit armed robbery, with a possible sentence of 20 years, suspending all but time served, and five years of supervised probation.
Vaughn asked her friend to drive her around for some errands, the prosecution previously said. Video footage showed that when the victim arrived, the defendant was with other men and the victim was shot in the neck a short time later.
