A 19-year-old woman accused of attempted murder for her involvement in the shooting of a friend pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges on Dec. 11.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Christopher L. Panos presided over the plea proceeding for Markia Vaughn, who was represented by defense attorney Jason Rodriguez. In agreement with the prosecution, Vaughn pleaded guilty to conspiracy to first-degree murder and conspiracy to armed robbery in connection to the shooting on Feb. 10, 2022.

In addition to attempted first and second-degree murder, the defendant’s initial charges also included firearm use in a felony or violent crime, conspiracy to firearm use in a felony or violent crime, first-degree assault, conspiracy to first-degree assault, conspiracy to armed carjacking, attempted armed carjacking, armed robbery and reckless endangerment.

Although Vaughn pleaded guilty to both charges, the prosecution said the defendant would only be sentenced for conspiracy to armed robbery. The prosecution asked Judge Panos to delay Vaughn’s sentencing, but noted a possible term of 20 years, suspending all but time served, and five years of supervised probation.

A sentencing date was not scheduled on Monday, but will occur in 2024.

According to the prosecution, Vaughn had asked the victim for a ride so she could run some errands. The defendant was seen via video footage with other men as she waited for victim. Shortly after arriving, the victim was shot in the neck.
