Attempted Murder Defendant Rejects Plea Offer

A 36-year-old man charged with an attempted murder rejected a plea offer of five years in prison on April 25 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn. 

Andre Davis is facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder of a minor, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder of a minor, three counts of first-degree assault, four counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging firearms, and malicious destruction of property of more than $1,000 in connection to an incident on May 31, 2020. 

The prosecutor presented a plea of 10 years suspending all but five years with two years on probation for first-degree assault, and five years for reckless endangerment. All charges are set to run concurrently.

Under the plea, Davis must also stay away from the victim, join a drug and alcohol program and register as a gun offender. 

According to court documents, police responded to a call from an aggravated assault on the 2800 block of Lake Avenue. The victim told police that Davis, her mother’s boyfriend at the time, began arguing with her. When the victim attempted to leave and get in her vehicle with her 1-year-old son inside, Davis allegedly started shooting at her with a semi-automatic handgun. 

Davis is scheduled to return to court on Apr 26. to receive his trial date.
