Attempted Murder Defendant Receives May Trial Date

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled the trial for a 21-year-old attempted murder defendant on Dec. 14.

Malik Height is charged with two counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder and first-degree assault, attempted armed carjacking, attempted carjacking, attempted armed robbery, robbery, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, another weapons charge and reckless endangerment in connection to an Aug. 21 incident.

The prosecution offered Height a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years, with five years of probation for attempted first-degree murder and a concurrent 10 years, the first five years without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Height rejected this offer via his attorney, James Sweeting III

Judge Phinn scheduled Height’s three-day trial to begin on May 29, 2024.
