A reception hearing for a 53-year-old Baltimore man, charged with attempted murder, was postponed until tomorrow due to counsel’s inability to pick a trial date before the defendant’s Hicks date on April 4.
Eric Ashley Harcum is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, two counts of first and second-degree assault two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of use of a deadly weapon with intent to injure in connection with an incident on March 5, 2021.
The hearing was postponed by because counsel could not agree upon a trial date.
The prosecutor told Judge Melissa M. Phinn that the defendant was making incriminating statements. He said he has concerns that the defendant has mental health issues and should be in mental health court.
Harcum was represented by defense attorney Euphus Belu-John.
Harcum’s next hearing is scheduled for April 5.
