Armed Robbery Defendant Rejects Ten Year Plea

On Oct. 23, a 35-year-old armed robbery defendant appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn to hear the prosecution’s offer or schedule a trial date.  

Dontae Andrews is charged with armed robbery, robbery, firearm use in a felony violent crime, second-degree assault, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a loaded handgun on his person and theft of less than $100 in connection to a June 2 incident.

The prosecution offered Andrews a plea deal of ten years, the first five without the possibility of parole, for firearm possession with a felony conviction. Andrews would have also been required to register as a gun offender upon release. Defense attorney Jason Rodriguez rejected the offer on Andrews’ behalf.

Judge Phinn scheduled Andrews’ one-day trial on Jan. 19, 2024, before Judge Gregory Sampson
