On July 3, a verdict was reached for a conspirator in a homicide case in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Kevin Dudley, 41, was found guilty of first-degree murder and illegal possession of a regulated firearm before Judge Yolanda A. Tanner, for his connection to the 2021 murder of 18 year-old Kozee Spriggs.
Dudley was, however, found not guilty of firearm use in a felony violent crime, as the prosecution made it clear that while Dudley was not the person who shot and murdered the victim, he was still a conspirator because he was an accomplice.
At trial, defense attorney Anne-Marie Gering argued that justice was not served by convicting the wrong person for a crime. She also pointed out phone location evidence showing that Dudley was not at the scene of the crime. However, the prosecution said the phone location does not actaully dictate a person’s location.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on June 15, 2021, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) detectives were sent to the 1100 block of Ensor Street, where they found Spriggs’ decomposing a body in a backyard.
