The prosecution dismissed the case against a non-fatal shooting defendant after a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge denied his postponement request on May 8.
The prosecution’s witness in a trial against 22-year-old Skyler Lampkin was unavailable to appear today before Judge Kendra Y. Ausby. Defense attorney J. Wyndal Gordon objected to the postponement due to the case’s age — Lampkin has been waiting since last summer for his day in court.
Rather than go forward with the scheduled trial today, the prosecutor dismissed all charges against the Army veteran.
Lampkin was charged with firing a gun in Baltimore City, having a loaded handgun in his vehicle and on his person and reckless endangerment for a July 2023 for allegedly shooting at a security guard outside a nightclub on the 1000 block of East Pratt Street.
Last month Judge Anthony F. Vittoria released Lampkin from home detention.
