At a stand-in prosecutor’s request for a postponement on April 22, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria sent defendant Doral Douglas and his attorney Michael Cooper to reception court to reschedule his trial.
The 53-year-old is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony-violent crime.
According to Maryland court documents, Douglas and several unidentified suspects allegedly participated in a shooting on Aug. 25, 2023.
Baltimore Police Department (BPD) detectives responded to the 400 block of Oxford Court and found one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage allegedly showed Douglas’s silver Infiniti parking on the 1000 block of Mcculloh Street shortly before a group exited the vehicle and followed the victim to the 400 block of Oxford Court.
A second stand-in prosecutor informed the court that the assistant state’s attorney originally assigned to the case was on bereavement leave. Consequently, Judge Melissa K. Copeland agreed to reschedule the trial for July 10 before Judge Timothy J. Doory. It is expected to last for three days.
