On March 18, a jury found 34-year-old Preston Feaster guilty for the murder of 29-year-old Andrew Smith before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John A. Howard.

Feaster was found guilty of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a handgun on his person in connection to Smith’s death.

As previously reported by Baltimore Witness, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) recovered a firearm from Feaster’s home consistent with the cartridge casings found on the 4200 block of Saint George’s Lane, where police found Smith. A license plate reader and CCTV captured Feaster’s red pickup truck moving between the scene of the crime and his home, and cell site data tracked Feaster’s phone to be traveling along with his truck at the time of the incident.

Defense attorney Brandon Mead had previously urged the jury to use their common sense, pointing out that the footage did not show the person driving the truck and that the cell phone was not registered under Feaster’s name.

However, a week from the trial’s start, the jury did eventually find Feaster guilty of the homicide. The defendant’s sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
