On Feb. 26, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the murder trial for a 39-year-old Baltimore County man.
Jamel McClurkin of Owings Mills, Md. is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and carrying or transporting a handgun in connection to the Sept. 23, 2023, murder of 38-year-old Davon Jones.
The prosecutor offered McClurkin a plea offer of life, suspending all but 60 years, for first-degree murder with five years of supervised probation. McClurkin’s lawyer Karyn Meriwether rejected the offer on his behalf.
Judge Copeland scheduled McClurkin’s three-day trial to begin on June 6 before Judge Barry G. Williams.
A Baltimore Police Department press release stated that authorities arrested McClurkin days after the incident for Jones’ murder, but the release from the date of the incident indicated there was another unidentified victim in the shooting on the 400 block of North Curley Street.
