On July 11, a defendant who was charged with attempted murder in a Daytona Avenue shooting had his trial postponed by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Sylvester B. Cox.

Defendant Jeremiah Jackson is still waiting for a trial for his case after it was postponed back in early February.

Prosecutors wanted to bring in the victim and witnesses for questioning, but they did not appear.

Judge Cox decided to continue a trial to July 12 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Myshala E. Middleton.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Jackson, 18, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, using a firearm during a felony violent crime, possessing a firearm as a minor, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, discharging a firearm, and illegally possessing ammunition.

According to court documents, on Dec. 12, 2021, patrol units were dispatched to the intersection of Daytona Avenue and West Coldspring Avenue for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, patrol units located the victim on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim later told detectives that the suspect was his friend and only knows him as “ManMan” because that’s the suspect’s name on social media. Through a social media photo, the suspect was identified as Jackson.

Further investigation of the area revealed that the crime scene was located inside a construction site in the middle of the 4400 block of Daytona Avenue.
