On Jan. 30, a prosecutor did not have a plea offer for a defendant charged with first-degree murder during a Baltimore City Circuit Court reception hearing.
Daquan Gilliard, who appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on Monday, faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, two counts of committing a violent crime near a minor, first-degree assault, home invasion, and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident on Aug. 1, 2022.
According to a press release, on the night of the incident, the victim Travon Johnson, 27, was found on the 2400 block of Kermit Court and sent to an area hospital for a fatal gunshot to the head. Gilliard was arrested two weeks later and charged with Johnson’s murder.
Judge Phinn set the 24-year-old defendant’s trial date for May 17 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Schiffer. His jury trial is expected to last three days
