Judge Continues Hearing a Day for Homicide Defendant Due to Absence of Counsel

A murder defendant had his hearing to schedule his trial date continued by Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn for a day on Oct. 26 after his defense counsel was absent from the meeting.

Christopher T. Robinson is represented by defense attorney James Sweeting III, who was in trial for another case during the time Judge Phinn called his case.

A stand-in for the prosecution said that they had yet to discuss a trial date with Sweeting.

Robinson is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime two counts of possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun in a vehicle, discharging firearms and illegal possession of ammo in connection with an incident on April 10.

Judge Phinn ruled to continue Robinson’s hearing until Thursday, Oct. 27 in hopes that Sweeting will be in attendance.
