A Parkville woman accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Georgio Johnson in April 2021 is expected to begin a jury trial on Thursday as counsel began jury selection on Aug. 24.
Brandi Richardson, 28, is charged with first-degree murder and firearm use during a felony violent crime in connection to Johnson’s murder on April 7, 2021, on the 1500 block of N. Broadway. The victim was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital about 45 minutes after police and medics found him.
On Wednesday afternoon, Richardson and her defense attorney, Isaac Klein, appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles Blomquist where the prosecution reiterated a plea offer of life, suspending all but 40 years with five years of probation for the murder charge, and a concurrent 10 years, the first five years without parole, for the gun charge.
Richardson, currently being held in Cecil County, rejected the offer, followed by the start of jury selection.
Judge Blomquist said jury selection will likely continue Thursday morning, with opening statements beginning in the afternoon. The trial is expected to conclude on Aug. 30.
