The collateral hearing for a 56-year-old Annapolis man was postponed on Aug. 18, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffery M. Geller.
Douglas Cantrell, represented by defense attorney George Harper, was convicted of first-degree murder, deadly weapon with intent to injure, and two counts of second-degree assault on Oct. 12, 2021.
Cantrell’s hearing was postponed due to reasons unknown to Baltimore Witness.
According to WMAR News, police said 51-year-old Vernon Jacobs, was stabbed following a verbal altercation on the 3500 block of Helmstetter Street at about 7 a.m. on May 1.
In a bail review on Sept. 8, the prosecution said Cantrell specifically stabbed Jacobs in the chest, abdomen, left arm, and left side in addition to causing blunt force trauma which ultimately led to the victim’s death.
