Homicide defendant Richard Crowner has been set to stand trial in November after declining the prosecution’s plea offer on July 21 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Crowner, 20, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm as a minor, carrying a handgun, and use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection with an incident that occurred on Feb 12.
On Thursday, the prosecutor offered Crowner a plea of life in prison for first-degree murder and 20 years, with the first five years without parole, for use of a firearm during a violent crime. The sentences would run concurrently.
Crowner is being represented by defense attorney Isabel Lipman.
According to CBS News, officers found 29-year-old Terrell Caldwell suffering from severe gunshot wounds to his back on the 4000 Block of Bonner Road. Caldwell was transported to a local hospital for treatment but died a short time later. Crowner was arrested by police and charged for the murder five days later on Feb 17.
Crowner is set for a four day trial, which is slated to begin on Nov. 15.
