Attempted Murder Defendant Denied Bail for 2nd Time

A 21-year-old man accused of attempted murder was denied bail Feb. 18 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Phillip S. Jackson.

Lamont Dudley is also charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and two counts of possession to carry marijuana in connection to an incident on June 26, 2020.

On Friday, Judge Jackson listened as the prosecutor informed the court that prior to the incident the defendant was on active probation for a crime of violence, and noted the defendant is a threat to public safety.

In addition, the prosecutor recommended the defendant should be held without bail.

Dudley’s defense attorney, Michael Tomko said the arresting officer said he watched the defendant throw a gun but that is not the case. Tomko also said there is body camera footage showing Dudley running alongside another suspect who was also running.

In addition, Tomko said the other person running in the body camera may have disposed of the weapon.

After listening to counsel, Judge Jackson denied the defendant’s bail after deeming him a threat to public safety.

According to CBS Baltimore, on Jan. 17, 2021, at approximately 10 p.m. officers were called to the 1000 block of South Carey Street for reports of shots being fired. They found an unidentified man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The medics took the victim to an area hospital.

Dudley’s next hearing is scheduled for April 22.
