A Baltimore man who allegedly committed vehicular manslaughter accepted a plea of paying a $1,000 fine on Feb. 7 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Charles Burnell Dailey Jr.,29, is charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection to an incident on Feb. 14, 2020.
On Monday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of paying a $1,000 fine for vehicular manslaughter.
Dailey and his defense attorney, Tony Garcia, accepted the plea.
According to CBS Baltimore, Dailey was behind the wheel of a large flatbed delivery truck at 10:03 a.m. on Feb. 14, 2020, when he hit a disabled Honda sedan on the Key Bridge. The victim, 29-year-old Nazmi Abdelhadi, was standing next to the front right corner of the car when the truck approached the righthand lane, striking the vehicle.
It appears that while Dailey was driving at a speed of 65 miles per hour, he did not see the message board, nor did he attempt to brake or swerve out of the vehicle’s direction. His truck forced the car into the victim and pushed him into the water.
The medical examiner confirmed the victim died from multiple injuries and drowning.
Dailey was ordered to pay the fine by 4:30 p.m. this evening.
