A 44-year-old man accused of a non-fatal shooting accepted a plea of time served with two years probation on Feb. 2 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
The Baltimore resident is charged with possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, possession of firearms, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammo, discharging firearms, and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Aug. 11, 2021.
During reception court on Wednesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of 10 years suspending all but time served with two years probation for possession of a firearm with a felony conviction.
Under the plea, the defendant must register as a gun offender.
The defendant and his defense attorney, Tony Garcia accepted the plea offer.
According to court documents, on Aug. 11, 2021, at approximately 9 a.m. officers responded to reports of shots being fired. The defendant was captured on surveillance footage firing a handgun twice and fleeing the scene.
Once located, the defendant was found in possession of a loaded .22 caliber revolver, despite having a previous gun offense in 2008. The defendant also admitted to firing a gun when questioned by police.
