A motions trial was set for three co-defendants in a homicide on Nov. 30 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Khalil Madden, 28, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, conspiracy to armed robbery, use of a firearm in a violent crime, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, conspiracy first-degree assault, attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery, attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to first-degree burglary, and having a loaded handgun on his person for his alleged involvement in the 2019 murder of a YMCA coach.
Madden was offered a total plea of life suspending all but 70 years with five years supervised probation for first-degree murder, conspiracy to armed robbery, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and conspiracy to first-degree burglary, however the defendants defense attorney Shannon Heery rejected the plea.
Aaron Butler, 49, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to armed robbery, two counts of use of a firearm in a violent crime, first and second-degree assault, conspiracy to first-degree assault, attempted armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery, attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to first-degree burglary, and having a loaded handgun on his person for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Donta Holdclaw, 46, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, and conspiracy to first-degree burglary in connection in the murder.
Holdclaw is set to testify as a witness against Madden and Butler in the trial.
According to the Baltimore Sun, on Nov. 5, 2019, officers responded to a home invasion on the 4800 block of Clifton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found 31-year-old Jordan Taylor with a gunshot wound.
Police noted that Taylor was shot through his front door while trying to stop the intruders from breaking in. Police added that the intruders were looking for a safe.
There was a surveillance video released three months after the incident, showing the suspects looking around the victim’s home.
A trial date is scheduled for the three co-defendants for Sept. 7, 2022.
