Nicholas Keating, 37, faced a delay in legal proceedings on March 24 after the defense requested further time to prepare, citing an incomplete firearm analysis related to the case.
Keating is charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy and multiple gun offenses in connection to a shooting that occurred April 24, 2025 in the Charles North neighborhood of East Baltimore.
According to charging documents, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers responded to the 100 block of E. Lafayette Avenue after hearing gunfire. At the scene, officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower back and transported him to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigators later recovered video footage that showed a man identified as Keating producing a handgun and shooting the victim. When the victim began to flee, Keating reportedly continued shooting until the victim fell to the ground. Keating then began approaching the victim, but quickly fled southbound as officers arrived.
Two 9mm guns and 12 casings were located at the scene. Officers quickly located Keating attempting to hide on Lovegrove Street and apprehended him.
The court has yet to set a new date for Keating’s trial.
