Baltimore Police Department detectives have apprehended 54-year-old Leonard Owens of Baltimore in connection with a shooting incident in the Southwest District.
Mr. Owens was sought in relation to a shooting that injured a 36-year-old man on June 20, 2026, in the 300 block of North Gilmor Street.
Detectives arrested Mr. Owens without incident and transported him to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was subsequently charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Southwest District Shooting Investigation
On June 20, 2026, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Southwest District Officers responded to the 300 block of N. Gilmore Street in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.
Officers arrived on scene and observed a 36-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Through the course of their investigation, officers were able to take a person of interest into custody for questioning.
