Melvin Garcercis Tucker and Richard Holland Jr. saw their trials delayed on July 21. Tucker is charged with murder and firearm violations stemming from a May 2024 incident that occurred in the 3600 block of Leverton Avenue.
Holland is being charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, assault and firearm charges from an October 2025 crime in the 200 block of E. North Avenue.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Dana M. Middleton told Tucker’s defense attorney Robert Cole that she called the jury office at 8:58 a.m. for a panel, but it was “like calling into a radio station.” Judge Middleton called once again 40 minutes later, but there were still not enough jurors.
Judge Cynthia H. Jones called into the jury office around 10 a.m. and learned that while about 250 jurors showed up today, there were only 15 currently available for Holland’s trial after other judges took the rest.
Judge Jones said she would reconvene at 11 a.m. to check if there were any more jurors available and if not, she would check at 1:45 p.m. before making any decisions to postpone. At 11 a.m., however, Judge Jones decided to push the trial back a day because there still weren’t candidates to fill the panels.
The two trials have been postponed until July 22.
