The case against Raynard Venable, 59, accused in an East Baltimore shooting, was dismissed on Feb. 11 after the prosecution failed to contact the victim.
According to court documents, Venable is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, assault and firearm use in connection to the shooting, which occurred Nov. 29, 2024 on the 2700 block of E. Federal Street.
Responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his right foot. After speaking with the victim, officers said he was shot by, Venable, his cousin, following a dispute.
The state’s attorney asked that the case be dismissed after losing contact with the victim, who was the key witness at trial.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Kimberly C. McBride approved the disposition. Venable, along with defense attorney Frank Phillips, filed the paperwork for the defendant’s release after the charges were dropped.
