Sentencing for Markia Vaughn, 21, of Owings Mills was postponed for reasons undisclosed in a court hearing on May 5. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K Copeland reset the matter to May 12.  The proceeding has already been rescheduled four times, most recently for March 10.

This latest delay in Vaughn’s disposition came after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder on Dec. 11, 2023. If she gets the maximum sentence, Vaughn could face 20 years, suspending all but time served, and five years of supervised probation.

Vaughn was originally charged with the attempted murder in a conspiracy to shoot a friend in 2022. The incident started when Vaughn asked the victim for a ride to run some errands.

Recovered video footage reportedly captured the defendant waiting for the victim with other men. Shortly after arriving, the victim was shot in the neck.

Vaughn is represented by defense attorney Koryn High.
