Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn set a June hearing on April 18 for murder suspect Quontay Spinks, 19,  after he received two weeks to consider a plea offer. Parties are expected to reconvene June 25 to determine a jury trial date in case the offer is rejected.

Spinks is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a and felony or violent crime, first- and second-degree assault, and related firearm violations in connection to the Sept. 14, 2024 fatal shooting of Antonio Peoples, 36, outside the 700 block of Aliceanna Street.

According to charging documents, investigators recovered video footage of a dark-colored car pulling up to the spot where Peoples and his girlfriend were standing. Several suspects emerged from the vehicle pointing firearms at Peoples, reportedly in an attempt to rob him.

Peoples resisted and the suspects shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene in the vehicle. Detectives analyzed footage around the time the incident occurred and identified one of the suspects as a person said to be Spinks.

Peoples was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m.

Spinks was arrested Nov. 1, 2024 and charged with first-degree murder. He is also linked to one shooting, two armed robberies, and three carjackings from between Sept. 12 and Oct. 4, 2024.
