A Baltimore Police Department (BPD) homicide detective testified about video evidence against Tyrone Payne, 24, before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Troy K. Hill on April 11.

Payne, and his co-defendant Vincent Harris, are charged with four counts of first-degree murder and two of firearm use in a felony or violent crime, as well as several other charges in connection to the fatal shooting of Di’Shon Smith, 20, and Deshaun Waters, 21, on the 3200 block of Hollins Ferry Road on July 25, 2023. Harris and Payne were arrested nearly half a year later in January 2024.

Despite defense attorney James Sweeting III’s protest, the prosecution showed nearly 50 video clips that captured the alleged crimes with the detective describing the excerpts.

The first group showed that three suspects fired at least 20 shots toward the two victims before fleeing the scene in a silver car that was later linked to Payne’s ex-girlfriend. The next sequence tailed the car to the Spirit West bar and grill in the 2600 block of Wilkens Avenue.

Once parked, Payne reportedly retrieved a white suitcase from the car that contained the guns and hoodies worn and used in the shooting. Payne’s ex-girlfriend previously testified Harris removed but never returned the suitcase from her home.

The trial continues.
