A man accused of fatally shooting his brother and fleeing to North Carolina pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Feb. 6.
Michael D. Conley, 35, fatally shot 27-year-old brother Devon Thomas on April 11, 2024 following a dispute in the 3400 block of Spelman Road.
On April 12, 2024, the day after the incident, US Marshals and the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) Warrant Apprehension Task Force tracked Conley to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and arrested him with the assistance of the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Conley was extradited to Baltimore City on June 6, 2024 and taken to the Central Booking & Intake Facility, where he was held without bail.
For first-degree murder, Conley faces life in prison, suspending all but 35 years. He also faces 10 consecutive years for his second charge and five years of supervised probation, as well as gun offender registry.
