Baltimore resident Donta Lisbon pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime on July 18 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court in connection to a shooting last year.
Lisbon, 27, previously faced charges of manslaughter, wearing a handgun on his person, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The non-fatal shooting occurred on Bel Air Road on Feb. 28, 2020.
During postponement court on June 30, defense attorney Anne Stewart-Hill said that she had not yet relayed this offer to her client.
In reception court on Monday, another one of Lisbon’s defense attorneys said the victim had recovered. Lisbon was then presented a new plea offer of 10 years for attempted second-degree murder, and five years without the possibility of parole and two years probation for firearm use in a violent crime, both of which will run concurrently.
Stewart-Hill accepted the offer on Lisbon’s behalf.
Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland noted that the state’s offer was considerably less than the maximum sentence for attempted second-degree murder, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.
According to the prosecution, video footage of the crime showed the defendant getting in a Honda. Lisbon and another man were then seen firing from the Honda at a man riding a dirt bike. The victim returned fire, hitting the car.
Officers responded to the sound of gunshots and investigated a blood trail near Bel Air Road, where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital.
