A 22-year-old man accused of homicide had a trial rescheduled for October on Jan. 31 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn.
Chance Taylor is charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to armed robbery, and use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident on April 4, 2020.
Trial was postponed due to the suspension of jury selection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.
Taylor’s defense attorney, Michael Tomko, previously rejected a plea offer on his client’s behalf, which included life suspending all but 50 years, with five years of probation for first-degree murder, and 20 years for firearm use during a violent crime. The sentences were set to run consecutively.
According to CBS Baltimore, on April 1, 2020, officers were called to an area hospital for a report of a walk-in shooting victim, where they found 18-year-old Gary Williams suffering from a gunshot wound. Williams died shortly after.
Taylor’s trial is scheduled for Oct. 11 with Judge Yolanda Tanner.
