Western District Officers Seeking Wanted Vehicle

On Jan. 24, 2023, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Baltimore City Helicopter Unit (Foxtrot) spotted a vehicle that was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on Jan. 16, in the 2400 block of Francis Street.

The vehicle was spotted at W. Franklin and N. Payson Streets.

Additional units were called, at which time the vehicle fled the location at a high rate of speed. Baltimore Police ground units did not pursue, however, Foxtrot continued to track the vehicle as it fled into Baltimore County and onto I-695.

While continuing to evade arrest, the suspect unsuccessfully attempted to carjack a vehicle at a gas station on Belair Road.

The suspect returned to the wanted vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed. At the intersection of Joppa Road and Loch Raven Boulevard the suspect bailed out of the wanted vehicle and carjacked a motorist of their vehicle.

Still attempting to elude police, the suspect continued in the carjacked vehicle only to jump out and flee on foot into a wooded area in Towson. The suspect was later discovered suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect, a 29-year-old male has since been pronounced deceased.

At this time, Baltimore City detectives are investigating this incident. All aspects of this investigation are open and on-going.
