Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland  postponed 24-year-old Keshawn Luckey’s jury trial on Feb. 24 after the prosecution was involved with another trial.

Luckey was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder and assault and related firearm charges after allegedly shooting a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officer at a Metro station in the 400 block of Dolphin Street in 2024.

MTA police received a tip on June 20, 2024 about a possibly armed man boarding a train. The individual was described as a Black male wearing blue jeans, a white tank top, and blue flip flops. He also had a black backpack.

Officers were dispatched to the Metro station, where an individual fitting the description opened fire at them.

According to court documents, Luckey then fled down Stoddard Alley, taking off his backpack and throwing unknown objects out of it while firing shots over his left shoulder.

He allegedly fired two more shots as he continued fleeing down the 1000 block of Druid Hill Avenue, where investigators located the black backpack inside a dumpster. Inside the backpack, they say they found a paper with the name “Keshawn Dominic Ruben-Luckey.”

With that information, investigators located Luckey’s address, where they then arrested him. As he was on the ground, Luckey murmured, “It was another guy shooting, it wasn’t me.”

The trial, which was originally assigned to  Judge LaZette Ringgold-Kirksey, is set to last three days and will begin May 27 before Judge Jeffrey M. Geller. Luckey will be represented by defense attorneys David A. Greenbaum and  Stephen Kleeman
