An attempted homicide defendant’s trial was postponed on Oct. 25 before Judge Melissa K. Copeland because of the victim’s health.
Darius Stepney, 31, is facing 19 charges including attempted first-and second-murder, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, conspiracy to murder in the first-and second-degree, conspiracy to assault first-and second-degree and multiple weapons charges.
According to the prosecution, the victim, who is homeless, was recently hospitalized and is being treated, thus the requested postponement.
Defense Attorney, Daniel Mooney, who was standing in for Robert Cole, asked for a motion to determine the victim’s mental competency.
Stepney’s four day trial is set to begin on Feb.19. 2025, before Judge Michael A. DiPietro.
