A defense attorney Donald Wright called into reception court from an airport on Feb. 6 to request a postponement due to travel issues.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn continued the start of trial for defendant Dorian Milstred as a result of his defense attorney’s late return to the city.

Milstred, 20, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, the malicious destruction of property valuing less than $1,000, possession of a firearm as a minor and discharging a gun in the city for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend during an argument on Sept. 5, 2021.

The defendant is expected to begin trial Tuesday before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Charles H. Dorsey III.
