“You can get more done with more than one person, even murder,” said the prosecutor trying 22-year-old defendant Wesley Lambert in a drive-by shooting case. He was seen in front of Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John Addison Howard on May 10.

Lambert is being charged as an accomplice to the murder of 20-year-old Amare Burruss in a homicide taking place on Dec. 7, 2022, on the 4200 block of Pimlico Road. He also faces the two single counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a handgun in a vehicle.

The prosecutor showed a compilation of CCTV footage from the day of the shooting, piecing together evidence for the jury. Pointing at the video, she shouted, “[Burruss is] hiding. What is he hiding from?!”

Acknowledging that the victim took out his gun first, the prosecutor claimed it was because he was being “stalked” and “followed” by a gray Acura in a Dollar General store parking lot.

Three suspects were seen on the footage, walking and driving around the area.

“It’s important to hold all three [perpetrators involved] responsible,” she finished, addressing the fact that Lambert did not act alone and though he may not have pulled the trigger, he intended to kill Burruss.

Defense attorney Hunter Pruette replied saying, “There is absolutely no proof that these three were present at the time of the shootout.”

He also said that only one gun was used in this incident and questioned how three people could have possibly been involved.

“The state was right, this is a difficult case. They can’t prove it,” Pruette finished.

The jury will now deliberate a verdict on Lambert’s charges.

Lambert’s two co-defendants, Darrean Fleming and Garry Morris, will be tried separately this summer.
