Trial Date to Be Determined for Defendant in 2022 Woodland Avenue Homicide Case

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn postponed the hearing for a 2022 murder defendant to allow attorneys more time to further discuss a trial date.

Defendant Josh Robert’s defense attorney Brian Bishop and the prosecution were unable to find a mutually acceptable date during reception court on April 20; however, they did agree that the trial would likely occur in October.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Roberts, 28, is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and altering physical evidence of the crime in connection with an incident on Nov. 28, 2022

Charging documents state that Roberts is accused of fatally shooting 38-year-old Khalil Tatum on the 3600 block of Woodland Avenue. The documents say the defendant believed that the victim was abusive to one of his family members and that officers think this may have been the motive behind the shooting.
