Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn scheduled the start of trial on Sept. 29.for a murder defendant accused of trying to avenge his associates brothers death.
Jimmy Murphy is being charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, two counts of first and second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, second-degree arson, and two counts of altering physical evidence in connection to an incident on Jan. 20, 2020, on the 2800 block of St. Lo Drive.
According to Fox 45 News, the 27-year-old defendant, along with two other men, was indicted in connection with the murder of two brothers, Cordelle Bruce and Cornelius Bruce, within days of each other. Murphy is facing charges in the death of Cornelius who was found in a burning car with a gunshot wound.
The two other defendants charged in connection with these two murders Christopher Brown, 22 , and Daran Horton, 22 were found guilty in September for their involvement in the death of the two Bruce bothers.
Horton was found guilty of first-degree murder, having a handgun on his person and the illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
Brown was found guilty of first-degree murder, using a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, and possession of a firearm as a minor.
The trial for Murphy is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2023, and is expected to last eight days.
