A trial date was set in reception court on July 31, with no plea offer on the table for an attempted murder case.

Jytarous Evans, 34, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, transporting and carrying a gun, illegal possession of ammunition and discharging a gun for an Aug. 17, 2023, incident.

The prosecution did not extend Evans a plea offer because of delays in DNA testing, mobile crime reports, body-worn camera footage and videos from the hospital where the victim was interviewed.

Defense attorney Jason E. Silverstein has been in communication with the prosecutor about evidence that he would need for trial, but was told they were simply unavailable.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set Evans’ trial date for Oct. 25 in front of Judge Robert K. Taylor, Jr. for two days.
