On July 19, attempted homicide defendant Donte Owens and his defense council rejected a plea from the prosecution before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
Owens, 47, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, possession of firearm, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammo, reckless endangerment, and discharging a firearm.
The prosecutor presented a plea of twelve years suspending all but seven years with three years on probation for attempted first-degree murder, five years without parole for first-degree assault, and three years for illegal possession of a firearm. All terms were slated to be served concurrently.
Owens was represented by defense attorney, Andrea Jaskulsky.
Owens’ trial date has been scheduled for Aug. 16. Counsel expects the trial to last two days.
