A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury found an 18-year-old guilty of a March 2023 Harlem Park murder.

Clifton Shields was convicted of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm as a minor, having a handgun on his person and having a handgun in a vehicle for the death of 19-year-old Tavon Wilson, Jr. on May 16.

Shields’ defense team of Judit Otvos and Lauren Dollar argued at trial before Judge Robert K. Taylor, Jr. that the prosecution’s surveillance footage was not incriminating and just showed a car driving near the crime scene on the 600 block of North Arlington Avenue. However, the prosecution exhibited evidence that Shield’s DNA was very likely on the alleged murder weapon, a Polymer80 ghost gun, which Baltimore Police Department officers found in his car days later.

Shield’s sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
