Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn presided over a continuing trial on March 12 for a murder defendant who claimed he was the victim of an attack mounted by several individuals.
Isaiah Eaddy 33, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, two counts of firearm possession with a felony conviction, and two counts of having a handgun in his possession in relation to the murder of Kareem Gee Jan 26, 2024, on the 1200 block of East Preston street.
However, he said he did not know the victim and did not intend to shoot or kill him.
Eaddy testified he was approached by seven men outside of a store nicknamed the “crown” who threatened him with three-to-five guns.
According to Eaddy, the ones who wore masks shot first, putting his life at risk. In response, he took out a firearm and shot back to defend himself.
Eaddy’s girlfriend testified she was at the crime scene because she asked him to grab some food. Then she said she heard Eaddy screaming outside saying he got shot and she tried to calm him down.
The girlfriend took a photo of the wound two hours later after she cleaned it. Even though she was at the scene she said she didn’t see what happened.
A firearm’s analyst from the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) said he received recovered ammunition components, shell casings, and bullets for examination which were most likely from a semi-automatic weapon.
Defense attorney Bradley MacFee said the prosecution could not prove his client committed first degree murder, citing more than one gun was involved and there was no connection between Eaddy and the victim. He also stated there was no evidence Eaddy shot first and called for the charges to be dismissed but the motion was denied.
Closing statements are slated to begin on March 13.
