On May 8, a homicide defendant accepted a guilty plea for murdering 24-year-old Jerron Davis before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill.
Defendant Jalonte Davis accepted a plea of life, suspending all but 40 years with five years of supervised probation for first-degree murder.
Judge Fletcher-Hill binded himself to the plea offer for a maximum of 40 years.
Attorney Henry Barnes deferred sentencing to bring in the 26-year-old defendant’s family to advocate for a more appropriate sentence for his charges.
The defendant’s next hearing date is scheduled for Oct. 18.
According to the prosecution, Jalonte and Jerron got into an argument on March 1, 2020. Jerron was found suffering gunshot wounds to the head and was transported to Shock Trauma. Jerron passed away three days later from his injuries.
