Recent Motion Decision Allows for April Murder Trial

On Dec. 13, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a 19-year-old’s murder trial after a long-awaited motions decision.

Tyshaun Williams is facing over 60 charges, including multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, robbery and firearm offenses. One of the murders he’s charged with is that of 19-year-old Deontay Edwards on the 1700 block of Oliver Street on July 12, 2022.

A motion filed by Williams’ attorneys, Megan Lewis and Robert Linthicum, heard in October sought to sever the charges against Williams into separate trials. Reception court dates since then could only be continued without a specific date if lawyers are waiting on a decision.

Judge Dana M. Middleton recently ruled that the charges against Williams will be severed and tried in four separate trials. The assistant attorney general said that the first trial will concern the murder charges.

Judge Phinn scheduled the nine-day trial to begin on April 3, 2024, before Judge Videtta A. Brown
