A 44-year-old Baltimore man charged with attempted murder had his hearing postponed due to the alleged victim recently dying on April 26 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

Gregory Young is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging firearms and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to an incident on Aug. 19, 2021.

During reception court on Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor informed the court that there was currently no plea to offer seeing as the victim recently died. The prosecutor requested a postponement in order for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The result of the autopsy is unknown. The prosecutor also mentioned, depending on the cause of death, the charge could then be changed to first-degree murder.

Young was represented by defense attorney Veronica Colson.

Young’s next hearing is scheduled for July 20.
