Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin granted an extension to the prosecution to have a homicide defendant evaluated by the Maryland Department of Health during mental health court on Aug. 24.

The hearing was called without defendant Ronald Alston, 34, who is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and robbery in connection with an incident on Feb. 18, 2020.

Defense attorney Brandon Taylor waived his client’s attendance.

The prosecution said they wanted to include the Developmental Disability Administration (DDA) in the report and that it would be ready by Sept. 21.

Taylor did contest the request saying, “the more information, the better.”

Alston’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21.
